On this Father's Day, let us extend our heartfelt gratitude to the ultimate Father, God, who guides us, protects us, and accompanies us on every step of our journey. Just as a loving father cares for his children, God nurtures us, providing us with love, support, and divine guidance. Let us cherish His presence in our lives and strive to embody His love and compassion in all that we do.

On this special occasion, we have handpicked and translated an excerpt from one of Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj’s discourses that beautifully depicts the relationship between us, the souls, and our eternal Father, God. Happy Father's Day to the greatest Father of all!

उर में सदा से रह गोविंद राधे। जीव ब्रह्म सुत पितु संग बता दे॥

"The soul and God forever reside together in the heart, akin to a son always under the care and protection of his father." – Kripalu Bhakti Dhara-3.7

‘Always’. Forever embodies the essence of eternity, devoid of a beginning. As individual souls, we have existed eternally, as have our hearts. And God, naturally, always exists. Thus, all three are eternal. One might question how the heart can be eternal when the body itself ceases to exist after a few days. However, the transition to a subtle body before the material body's end ensures the continuity of the heart. Regardless of the destination thereafter, whether a celestial realm or a hellish one, in every life form, each body harbors a heart. Within that heart, the soul and God coexist, analogous to a child and his guardian. God assumes the role of the father, while the soul becomes his son.

The Vedas affirm their coexistence. No father in the material world can remain with you forever, not even for twenty-four hours. Why? Consider when you are awake, clinging to your father all day. But what transpires during your dream state when you slumber? Where do you venture, and where does your father depart? You have indeed relinquished his company. This cyclical occurrence transpires daily. Hence, for him to remain perpetually with you is implausible. Even if you persist in claiming to be together, how long can this persist? Eventually, one of you will depart. If you argue that both will perish simultaneously by consuming poison, you will still part ways based on your respective deeds. Throughout various life forms, we have encountered innumerable fathers and sons.

Yet, God never forsakes your side. Regardless of the form you assume, He accompanies you, commencing from the womb itself. Even as the soul enters the mother's womb during the body's formation, God accompanies it. This consciousness permeates the entirety of the body, elucidating why it reacts to stimuli such as needle pricks. Although the body remains inert, the soul imbues it with consciousness. Upon the soul's departure, the body is deemed lifeless. Consequently, whether pricked by a needle, stabbed by a spear, or engulfed by flames, it remains impervious to pain.

Therefore, for the soul's consciousness, God must perpetually accompany us. He orchestrates the intricate processes within the mother's womb to fashion a body for us. Such arrangements entail nourishment derived from the mother's intake of food, benefiting both mother and child. This seamless orchestration is truly remarkable. Despite the absence of an apparent manager or executor, everything unfolds flawlessly. Amidst this intricate process, one may marvel at the transformation from a single cell into a fully-fledged body adorned with millions of veins. This miraculous feat is attributed to the presence of consciousness (God) and the mother's consumption of nourishment, which imbues her child with strength, vitality, and energy.

In this manner, God remains steadfast by your side, even beyond death. From the womb to every facet of existence, He perpetually accompanies you….
